Introducing— Skiway Lodges
The ultimate base camp for all of Maine’s adventures
Nestled among the mountains of Maine’s Mahoosuc Range, you’ll discover Skiway Lodges— a vacation rental compound featuring three unique lodging options to make your visit just right.
A New Chapter.
What was once the Sunday River Inn and Ski Shop has been thoughtfully converted and updated into vacation rentals while maintaining the charm of the Inn’s rich history. For all “first chair” enthusiasts, Skiway Lodges is ideally located just one mile from The Sunday River Ski Resort lifts and boasts striking views of Barker Mountain and the Sunday River Ski slopes. The property is adjacent to over 200 acres of conservation land filled with cross-country ski trails. Book your stay at one of three Skiway Lodges offerings and become a part of this new chapter.
Three Lodging Offerings.
The Meeting Haus
The largest of the lodgings, the Meeting Haus was previously the main Inn, and its conversion is beyond impressive. This delightful building can accommodate up to 25 people and is the choice for larger groups looking for a home away from home while enjoying the beautiful Maine outdoors.
The XC Ski Haus
With perhaps the coolest transformation, The XC Ski Haus interior is almost unrecognizable from its former days as the Sunday River Inn Ski Shop, except for the chill, ski lodge vibes. Its location is ideal, abutting conservation land offering miles of cross-country ski trails and is within one mile of the lifts at Sunday River. Views from the property are spectacular and stoke the fire for outdoor adventurers.
The Skiway Cottage
Quaint and cozy, the Skiway Cottage is the smallest of the Skiway Lodges offerings, the perfect getaway for small families. The Cottage is located next to cross country ski trails and neighbors the Sunday River Ski Resort, making it a central location for the best of Maine’s outdoor fun.
The Meeting Haus
The View
Complementing the impressive renovations made to the Meeting Haus is the incredible view its location provides. Large west-facing picture windows frame the sun as it sets behind the peaks at the Sunday River Ski Resort. Settle into the inviting sofa with the fire roaring in the large river stone fireplace and soak in the scene with a glass of mulled wine.
The Heart of the Haus
Sure to thrill and inspire all culinary artists, the beautiful and modern chef’s kitchen is fully equipped to create masterpieces that keep your group fueled for adventure. Fire up the griddle on the enormous 6-burner range and line it up with some French toast and eggs to rouse the rest of the group and serve it up at the breakfast bar or in the large dining area. The kitchen is open to one of the main lounge areas so none of the action is missed by those doing the cooking. If you don’t feel like cooking during your stay, here you can learn about the many catering options in the Bethel area.
Comfortable Accommodations
The nine bedrooms previously making up the accommodations for the former Sunday River Inn have been spruced up and updated, keeping the cozy vibe of the Inn intact. The previously shared bathroom has been converted into two spacious, updated bathrooms, totaling three full bathrooms.
Several lounge areas provide a space for everyone’s needs. Snuggle up into one of the comfy lounge chairs in front of the fire with your favorite book. Or scratch that competitive itch in either of two game rooms. Wrap up the day with a cold one at the Meeting Haus’s own private Après Ski Bar.
The XC Ski Haus
Comfy Accommodations
Floor-to-ceiling windows with excellent views of the mountains create a warm, light-filled space. Breathe in the mountain air as you sip your morning coffee on the large deck.
The brand-new kitchen is spacious, well-appointed, and ready for your use with modern appliances, and an island with a breakfast bar for quick meals before you head out to the slopes.
When the ski lifts close for the day, come home to the Ski Haus to recover and unwind in the living room. Play a board game with family at the dining room table with ski lift benches, or curl up on the loveseat for a movie night with your sweetheart. Upstairs you’ll find two new, bedrooms with sleeping for 4. The finished basement offers both a wrap-around couch, large flatscreen TV, and two bunk beds; a perfect hangout spot for the night owls or groms in your group.
The Skiway Cottage
Warm and Welcoming
Enter the building and ditch the parka, and you are greeted with the warmth of the Skiway Cottage living area and wood stove. Sink into the sofa as the wood stoves crank, and reminisce about the day’s adventures. The kitchen is sweet and well-equipped. The diamond muntin windows add natural light to accent the cottage’s rustic charm. Watch the wildlife in the morning from the enclosed porch while the coffee brews.
With three simple bedrooms and two full bathrooms, the Skiway Cottage can comfortably accommodate 7 people.
The homey atmosphere and quiet charm of the Skiway Cottage make it an ideal rental home for those seeking a Vacationland escape.
